And so marks the end of our beach storyline. I always like getting the characters out of the immediate “geek environment” on occasion.
However, starting next Tuesday, to launch the beginnings of convention season (in fact, I’ll be heading to San Diego next Wednesday), the SubCulture crew will begin their annual trek to Super Con. Trust me, hijinks ensue, and you fans of Miyoko will be in for a treat, as she features prominently in this storyline!
What’s a nice day on the beach without a tasty sno-cone? I prefer rainbow flavor!
And check out the cameos in panel 3–Jamie and Hazel from Girls with Slingshots, and JEFBOT and the Cornfather from JEFBOT. I hope Danielle and Jeff don’t mind.
I like this one. General Rajaxx and his Quiraji Warriors are real baddies in World of Warcraft–arguably the toughest boss in the entire game.
And leave it to Noel to bring the liquor. Thank God she knows how to manage her alcohol consumption, right?
Right?
Speaking of which, I have an idea for a SubCulture storyline which tackles a more serious issue, where a laugh-a-day might not be as appropriate. Would you all be interested in a story like that, or do you prefer the standard funny fare? I’d love to hear what you think.

Yes, Noel. In fact, we have heard something similar to this before. You should now that nerds love a good nerd-argument, though, particularly when there is no right answer!
Hey, let’s hear some classic nerd arguments from you, our readers! What’s something you’ve debated recently that’s a part of geekdom?
*Can Superman kick Thor’s ass?
* Whether your D&D character can waste someone else’s?
*The pros and cons of the d20 system?
Let your imagination run wild! I’ll send my favorites a free signed SubCulture: The TPB!
This is one of those strips that is fun to look at and see all the little things that you can find in there.
Miyoko could use a cheeseburger, that’s for sure!
I know you’re intrigued! I know you want to know how on earth this one is going to continue! But you’re going to have to wait a while to find out! Mwah hah hah hah!
I have a sneaking feeling that Travis is going to be putty in Noel’s hands here.

Travis just seems to have an obsession with the boobies, doesn’t he? Well, what can you expect from a 14 year old? His hormones are always on overdrive!
And in Panel Three, Noel is reading “Running Dead.” Zombies would be a lot more dangerous if they had higher than a 4 Agility, wouldn’t they?

Heroes Con is coming up in less than two weeks, and I am trying to put the final touches on having everything ready for the show. I’ll be sharing a table with ultra-groovy dude David Dwonch. We’ll be at table AA-137–so make a note!
So what is the good Dr. Freeman going to have with him at the show? Well, naturally I will have the usual staple of SubCulture: The TPB ($15) and SubCulture: The Webstrips ($10). At the con, you’ll be able to get both books for $20.
What else will I have?
This is a mini-comic that I put together that collects all eight of David Dwonch’s guest strips, plus a couple of other pieces that he did for us in the past. It’s only two bucks, and you can get both of us to sign it for you. David might even be inclined to draw a head sketch as well.
I’ll also have, assuming I get the art in time, another mini-comic that I wrote. David Dwonch did the layouts, and Super Ugly did the finished art and colors–it’s a UFO story entitled “We Come in Peace” which also will run you two bucks, and will be in FULL COLOR!
If all goes well, I also will have two T-shirts–one will be the Merlin’s Outhouse design that we are working on as we speak (I will upload a logo when it’s finished), and the other is a refurbishment of our old Noel “Back Off, Fanboy” T-shirt, this time in a babydoll ladies’ tee on white. Here’s the design if you forgot what it looks like:
I’m going to try hard to keep the shirts under $15. I’m shooting for $12 each. I don’t understand folks who charge $20 for a t-shirt. That’s damn near criminal.
I’ll also have a few pin sets, some print sets, and a stack of the Shrek comic that I wrote for Free Comic Book Day (alas, I have to charge you $1.00 for them–I hope that is okay!)
So if you are at Heroes Con in Charlotte June 4-6, do drop by and say hello! I’m always humbled when readers of the strip drop by and say hello!
The not-so-shocking conclusion to this storyline. Hey, at least Jason got a decent car out of it, right?
Starting on Tuesday–four weeks of David Dwonch. Be sure that your meds are at the proper dosage! Here’s a teaser:
