SubCulture: The Webstrips Vol 1: The Wrath of Geek!
by Kevin Freeman on May 2, 2011 at 6:25 pmWe are, for all practical purposes, sold out of the SubCulture: The Webstrips TPB. What’s that mean? Back to press, of course! But this time, the book is going to be better–much better. Here’s why:
The original SubCulture: The Webstrips Vol. 1 was in portrait format and had three strips per page–the strips ended up being a little small, and visually challenged folks like myself had to squint to read everything. The new volume is in landscape format (still 6×9 though). We’re going to have one strip per page instead, which means we can publish each strip full sized, so you can see everything, including all the goofy Easter eggs, as it was intended.
Each strip is going to have comments by me, Stan, or both of us to enhance your viewing experience.
Our first printing was self-published–this and future volumes are going to be published by Ape Entertainment. What this means is that the book will be available in PREVIEWS, which in turn means that your local comic store can order it for you. The order code is MAY11 0812. This also means that the book will be available in brick and mortar bookstores as well as online, at places like amazon.com. Of you can just order it direct from me (details on that coming soon).
Here’s a shot of the front and back cover–click on either for a larger version.
The book is 96 pages, black and white, and retails for $9.95.
And, glory be, we will be soliciting FOUR webstrip trades, one every other month. So look for volume 2 in the July PREVIEWS, Volume 3 in September, and Volume 4 in November. Howevever (and don’t tell just anyone this), the books will be available a little earlier if you can catch me at a convention. So stay tuned, and I hope you order a book or two.
We ain’t going to lie to you–this is how small webstrips like ours make money. We love doing this strip, and if you love it too and want to keep seeing it, ordering a book, and sending us a little cash, makes the decision that much easier for us

If you’re in the Reading, PA area this weekend, do drop by to the Comic Geek Speak Super Show and say hello. Our new trade won’t be ready yet, but I’ll still have lots of goodies for your enjoyment to sell there.
And you’ll also get to see Amber Love, Jamal Igle, and Mike Norton, and you can tell all of them how much you’ve enjoyed this most recent storyline.
See you there!
We made a big boo-boo…we actually skipped one of Amber’s scripts–part two of her story was left out altogether (now Strip 343). I’ve posted it here for your convenience, but have already inserted it into the storyline where it needs to be, if you want to go back and read it from the beginning.
Sorry about that! You may now view your regularly scheduled programming.
