According to Diamond’s shipping list, the SubCulture TPB is supposed to be in stores today. However, one person who ordered it through their LCS said that the book was MIA today. Give that I don’t have a comic store locally, I don’t know whether this is an error of Diamond’s, or whether the LCS simply didn’t order the book.
Has anyone seen the trade in stores? I’m curious.
And for those of you who pre-ordered the book from us, either through DCBS or our website, all copies are out the door and on their way to you, if you haven’t received them already. DCBS orders should be on your list this week.
Do Stan and I a favor and let you know when you get them and what you think–especially if you are not necessarily a regular reader of the webstrip.

The book was indeed listed in ifanboy.com’s list of released books for the week (http://www.ifanboy.com/comics/comics/subculture_tp_vol_01) so I almost expected to see it ship from Heavy Ink today but the ship list has been issued and it doesn’t appear in my list. I put in my order on December 12 and will let you know when it ships.
Really enjoying the strips btw…
Steve
Thanks, Steve. I got my shipment from Kevin today, so I would’ve been flabbergasted if you got yours from ifanboy before me. Please do let us know how quickly they get your book into your hands. You won’t be disappointed — it really turned out nice.
ifanboy is only my reference for what’s shipping in a week, I got my book from Heavy Ink (heavyink.com). Based on past experience, if they had not received it with this weeks Diamonds shipment, it won’t be before next Wednesday until they get it. I’ll make sure to let you know when it ships.
i should be picking up my book tomorrow! *glee*
and Heavy Ink is showing my copy as “shipping” which means it should leave their place at some point today or tomorrow and I should have it next week. Weee!!!
Steve
Thanks for the update, Steve. Diamond must have jumped the gun or misplaced them at some point last week.
no problem Kevin. I’ll make sure to let you know what I think of the book’s quality once I get my hands on it, which should be around Friday next week. I got plenty of trades in my “to read” pile, but that one will jump right to the top of it.
Steve.
got my subculture tpb and it’s gorgeous – i’m gonna start reading it tonight!
Woo hoo! Glad to hear folks are finally getting it in their hot little hands. Did you order it direct from us or via a comic store (online or otherwise), Jeff?
Neither. I traded him a TPB for a groovy JEFBOT T-shirt! Hoody hoo!
Oh, yes. I forgot about your wheeling and dealing!
got my copy only yesterday, almost as if the mailmen from hell knew my Subculture TPB was in that box. I’d say about 90% of my orders who ship on a Friday get to me no later than the following Friday, sometimes earlier. Maybe one out of twenty goes to the next Monday. Heh… Anyway, got it now and it looks good. Nice paperstock too, none of that cheap Vertigo paper.
Started reading it last night, nice to see the gang at the very beginning.
Good to know, Steve. Let us know what you think when you’ve read it!
Kevin & Stan, I just finished reading that trade over lunch, actually finished going over all the Easter eggs, and wow, what a fun read that was. As I said before, I thought it was a great deal of fun to be introduced to the gang from their beginnings, after having read only the webstrips until then.
I only got into comics last year, and have never really been part of a local comic shop crowd but I couldn’t help but laugh at the stories and I saw a bit of myself in every character. I really take Kevin’s dedication at the end of the book personally, I’m indeed a closet geek.
The presentation of the Easter eggs has made me discover your whole writing and drawing as a team in a completely different way. I will never read your strip in the same way, knowing how much thoughts you put into it. Again, well done, you have made me a fan for as long as you’ll be writing and drawing this strip.
About the book itself, I gotta say that for black and white art, it was very, very well done. The grey tones were close to perfection.
Steve.
Steve, I’m so glad you enjoyed it and it sounds like you got the most out of it for sure! I appreciate your high praise. I just hope many, many more folks get the chance to have the same experience that you did reading our book!
Let me repeat Stan’s sentiments, Steve. A lot of thought honestly did go into the story. It’s not really an autobiographical story, but there are plenty of personal anecdotes that both Stan and I used in the book to give it a more personal touch.
Thanks for reading. We really do appreciate it.
