It’s tough being a Vanderbilt fan.  Trust me on that one.  I was a freshman at Vandy in 1988, and graduated in 1992.  In my time as a Vandy student and alum, we have yet to have a winning season or go to a bowl.  In fact, our last winning season was 1982.  It’s far and away the longest streak of consecutive losing seasons in the NCAA.  And we’ve found amazing ways to lose during that period, snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory so many times that I’ve lost count.  So wins are precious.  SEC wins are something to get excited about.  And SEC wins over ranked opponents are even that much more sweet.

We beat USC Thursday.  It was our first home win against a ranked opponent since 1992, when we beat Ole Miss.  We also beat the ‘Cocks last year when they were ranked sixth in the nation.  They were 24th this week.  That means it’s the first time we’ve beaten the same ranked opponent in two consecutive years since 1937!

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy….
