Oh, now it’s on!
As if dressing up as a fuzzy d20 weren’t shame enough, getting bulldozed by an equally-fuzzy d12 MUST take the cake, I think.
Clearly our store war has gotten violent!
On an unrelated note, wouldn’t it be nice if in real life that a comic store owner could get a megaphone and generate instant business!
One last thing–I’m curious what sort of voice you all imagine Bart having. I know one person told me he heard Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. I’ll tell everyone the voice I imagine once I hear from a few of you.

Actually, I always kind of envisioned him having a voice that sounded kind of like a gravelly version of Ape Entertainment’s own Brent Erwin for some reason.
Okay… I’m so making a dice costume now.
Bastards.
I think he has more a voice of the orangutan?? scientist from Planet of the Apes (Heston version) Don’t know why just seems to fit him
Ive always voiced him as Raymond McGillicudy from “Comic Book Villains”.
How did they fit through the door? LOL!
It’s made of high-quality pliable materials!
ooohhh..i feel like i know whose in the other dice custome…
Me too!
Should we solicit guesses, or keep it a secret?
Is the winner determined by who lands on the bigger number once rolled over? Because that could be fun.
Brilliant!
Although I think the d20 costume has a slight advantage over the d12 costume.
I took a guy’s d20 once with a d4 in battledice.
Now that was a D20 that really hated him. I would have made it into a magnet that always rolls a 20 (on metal surface)…. not that I have done that before.
I find it fascinating how superstitious most gamers are regarding dice. I really need to do a storyline on that, methinks.
Isn’t that what this one was about? http://subculturecomic.com/wp/?p=751
And that comic is sooooo true. Whenever we are at gaming conventions and selling dice (we didn’t at NDK as it was an artist alley so no commercial items), that is totally the case. I am equally as guilty and I have made dice that didn’t roll well into jewelry as an example for the rest of them. And we have done the same for many of our customers.
So making dice into jewelry is a sort of punishment for bad rolling? Nice!
Wait, wait WAIT! You turn bad dice into… Jewelry? And… You expect people to WEAR them! Huh… well I guess that would be one way to up your odds at the gaming tables…
We prefer to call it retiring your old dice. But yes, bad dice (or just cool dice) can be made into jewelry or other fun accessories. ^_^
That is exactly what I thought as soon as I read this strip. It could be like wearing those huge inflateable summo suits and trying to knock each other over. You would bounce off each other and see who lands on the highest number. This strip is hilarious!
Thanks, Banson! I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
I imagine a slightly more gravelly version of Newman’s (of Seinfield) voice.
Nothing says geek fight like kicking!
SubCulture on my Droid X. Now I have no excuse to not read the weekly strips.
clap clap clap!
Huzzah!
ha! DICE FIGHT!!! and i agree with Dadzarro: i totally hear Newman’s (actually Nedry’s) voice coming outta Bart.
I can’t picture Bart having Jeff’s voice. Bart has people in his store that he puts up with. I’ve never seen anyone in Jeff’s store that wasn’t just a quick in and out because of his sarcasm. And possibly the effects of the breakfast burritos that he’s almost always consuming.
And I don’t think that he has Kevin Smith’s voice either. I kind of think of Kevin’s voice when he does say stuff, as a Duex et Machina stylized with Clifford Claven from Cheers. Smarter, only not as irritating. Too much of a vehicle to actually get the story line moving. Besides, he can’t say it without spraying it.
I can’t think of anyone who has a half geek background who has actually settled into society as a successful store owner as Bart to have survived long enough to have gotten into the comics auction a while back. My guess would have to be a calm and serene Jonathan Winters.
Well, we’ll see how successful with Merlin’s Outhouse cutting into his business going forward… Good thing he was able to auction off all those books… he might need a little financial cushion!
